as iron sharpens iron

knife_carving_knife_222957_l.jpgI had a Resource Development Committee meeting today at YFC.  Paul Pedosiuk and Greg Anderson were the only ones who could make it in addition to Brenda (my assistant) and myself.  The committee usually consists of two more: Carlo Raponi and Greg’s wife Kay.

Each time we meet I am always inspired.  We usually start with an agenda and never get to it.  Today was no exception - I wanted to talk Fund Raising and we ended up talking about developing KYFC as a resource - as always, we let God take care of the fund-raising.

Our discussion was about how we could best report the social and spiritual impact KYFC is having in the Kawarthas.   In order to find this out we need to ask the right questions to get the right answers.  Our discussion was life giving and in the end we decided on a capacity building exercises that shoudn’t cost the organization a whole lot, but allow us to report to our supporters an accurate picture of the impact we are having.

But here is the main point - I felt invigerated by our conversation.  I came away from our meeting feeling confident and in the game.  I atributed this largly to my friendship to Greg.  Everytime we get together I come away feeling charged, ready to go and confident.  I feel like reading more, like taking on less and being strategic about more - I am inspired.  Then this verse struck me: Proverbs 27:17

As iron sharpens iron,
so one man sharpens another.

I write this to encourage you to sharpen someone today and to say thanks to my friend Greg for sharpening me.

We are in this together with one another.  Be the BODY of Christ where you are.

  1. so true and so important to remember. I have also been reminded lately haw easly we can be blunt instruments as well and take away the edge, take away the shine and take away the sprk of life with a few misplaced words. I pray that Gods grace will allow us to be the former way more than the latter.

  2. A few questions from a blog idiot

How do you keep the spammers from eating you alive? i\’ve seen blogs with nothing but spam postings.

How do you keep some left wing extremist from posting racist or defamatory rhetoric? and if you cant stop them, what are you legally liabel when they do?

can viruses be posted to blogs?
