prayer answered
Wednesday Night while at the Peterborough Pete’s home game vs. the Toronto St. Michaels Majors there was a big celebration for the 50th year of Pete’s hockey in Peterborough. The CHL Commissioner was there, along with many hockey greats.
While the players were out on the ice for the celebrations, I began to get a deep sense of care for one of the Pete’s players (name omitted). I felt a need to pray for him, an urgent need! So I began to pray. I prayed for him and his relationship to the Lord. I prayed that God would call him to himself, that he would open himself to hearing from the Lord and for an opportunity for me and others to pour into his life. Some lofty prayers for a guy I only know from the sidelines.
Well, the next day, my good friend David Fisher (Pete’s Chaplin) who leads a bible study for the Pete’s every other Monday, approached me at a lunch we were at. I told him of my deep heart for this player the night before and how I prayed for him. He says, “You’re kidding! Do you know what happened last night?” He went on to tell me that he got into a 10 minute conversation with the CHL Commissioner (the highest man in the league for all of Canadian Hockey). The commissioner asked David if this player was attending his bible study, David told him no, (there are only two players on the whole team who don’t!!!!)
The commissioner told David that he would be speaking to this player and urging him to attend David’s Bible Study! What an answer to prayer! I since found out that seveal of my friends have been praying for this player as well, we have all been praying for the same things!
To top it all off, David invited me to come to share the lead at one of his bible studies for the team - this answering one of my other prayers, that I would have some way of influencing some of the players.
God answers our prayers.
