writing in the sand and greatness

I took a walk the other day to spend some time with the Lord. I set out with a focus - the GREATNESS o f God. As I set out on my walk, I asked the Lord to show me his GREATNESS. As I walked I found myself praying and thanking God for his GREATNESS in creation. I thanked God for his GREATNESS in his miraculous acts over history: dividing the Red Sea, restoring sight to the blind, walking on water etc.

Toward the end of my walk I got a picture from scripture (John 7:53 - 8:11) of Jesus kneeling on the ground. On one side of him was a crowd of men accusing a woman of adultery, on the other side was the woman accused. Jesus challenged the men, “he who is without sin, cast the first stone.” As we know, the men all left, one by one, starting with the older men.

Jesus was left with the woman, who he sent away - alive - with the loving instruction “go and sin no more”.

This image struck me as an example of God’s GREATNESS! Here is God, the Son, kneeling on the ground defending an adulterous woman. As God! He could have just wiped out the whole bunch, but he humbled himself to defend the woman and challenge the Hippocrates. What patience, what love, what GREATNESS.Feet in Sand

This is the Jesus I want to tell people about. He loves us so much that he took on the shame of association with us and humbled himself - remember He is God - and knelt down on the ground for us.
