seven to two
Last night I had the joy of taking my son and two of my nephews, Adam and Graham to a Peterborough Pete’s Game. Soon into the game Graham identified him self as a fan of the opposition, the Oshawa Generals. He only got to stand and cheer twice (we got to cheer seven times!), but each chance he got he would cheer and clap and as soon as he sat down I would hit him over the head repeatedly with a piece of reg licorice. The crowd all around us got into both the game and our fun, Graham was even showered with shredded 50/50 tickets at the end of the game. Graham was the out of town hit and the Pete’s won seven to two. The four of us had a GREAT time.
I remember a time I took two young guys fishing. One was under house arrest the other was on parol - some how their Probation Officer allowed me to take them together on a one day fishing trip. I asked the LORD what I should do with them and all I heard back was, “Give them the time of their lives.” Our fishing trip was a blast, we caught a ton of salmon and brown trout and created a memory we all still talk about three years later. The three of us had a GREAT time.
I have found more often than not, when the LORD orchestrate a GREAT time, he wants us to use it because He has created a deep connection between us.
After the Pete’s game my two nephews came back to our house for a few minutes. We ended up in a wonderfully encouraging conversation about our faith. The GREAT time turned into a deep connection that enabled us to share deeply. Adam and Graham and I talked about how we could better live out and share our faith with others. Clay, out of the blue asked Mommy how he could be sure he was going to heaven. The two of them prayed together. I really believe God orchistrated this GREAT time to create the conditions for spiritual fruit to grow.
This is all hard to explain in a journal, the point is allow God to use the GREAT time’s you have with others. You never know what He has laying just under the surface that can only be brought to light by that deep connection.
Still beaming from Thursday night,
Tim Coles
